TRUMBULL — Girls 4 to 12 years old will have a flexible new option for day camp in 2019, when the Next Level Camp for Girls opens at St Joseph’s High School in Trumbull. Over the past four summers, Next Level has empowered more than 1,000 girls in Westchester County and is excited to bring this highly successful formula to Fairfield County. Next Level allows girls to attend full- or half-day sessions for one or more consecutive or non-consecutive weeks from July 8 through August 2, 2019. Next Level camps offer weekly sports, academics, arts, and camper-choice electives, with a focus on building character and confidence.

Ed Metzendorf, founder and director of Next Level Camps, says that after growing up at summer camp and working in camp-related businesses for nearly two decades, he was inspired to create gender-specific day camps that would empower children while meeting the scheduling needs of today’s busy families. Testing the concept with the launch of the Westchester girls’ camp in 2015, he found that parents appreciated the very flexible scheduling options for a non-competitive camp program that blends team and individual sports, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) projects, and unique activities.

“At Next Level Camps, we customize campers’ schedules to meet their interests and needs, and our single-gender camps allow children to develop self-confidence, try new things, and advance their skills. Our camp counselors are well-trained teachers, parents, collegiate and high school coaches, and athletes who are excellent role models and who encourage campers of all abilities to explore their interests in a safe environment, with a primary emphasis on sportsmanship, skill-building, playing with pride, and playing for fun,” says Metzendorf.

Next Level Camp for Girls will use St Joseph’s superior, air conditioned facilities, including state-of-the-art fields, gymnasium, outdoor tennis courts, fully-equipped classrooms, and an auditorium. In addition to weekly core sports and academic programs, campers may choose electives from offerings such as magic, fencing, GaGa, DJ’ing, martial arts, dance, theater, and radio broadcasting, in which campers will learn how to produce their own weekly radio show. Each week also includes a traditional camp-wide Color War, plus special events like Try It Tuesday, Wild and Wacky Challenges, and Halloween Spooktacular.

Tuition discounts are offered with registration for three weeks or more, or when enrolling siblings for multiple weeks.

Metzendorf encourages parents to visit nextlevelgirlscamp.com for more information or contact him at 914-341-1488 or e-mail info@nextleveldaycamps.com. “Our goal is to ensure that each camper has an unforgettable summer camp experience. At Next Level Camps, children learn, commit, and achieve while having fun!”
