Varsity Golfers Win Twice

Newtown High School’s boys’ golf team won two of three matches to begin the year, knocking off Notre Dame-Fairfield and Bethel after falling to Masuk of Monroe in the season opener.

Against Bethel, the par 35 Rock Ridge Country Club, on Tuesday, Newtown shot a 186 to Bethel’s 193 for the win. Newtown’s results are as follows: Brian LeBlanc 46, Chris Erikson 48, Rob Marona 45, Vivek Tedla 47.

Newtown visited Notre Dame at the par 35 Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course on Monday and won 177-203. LeBlanc shot a 45, Erikson 42, Tedla 45, and Stephen Rahr a 45.

The Nighthawks visited Masuk at the par 36 Whitney Farms course on April 4 and fell 197-179. LeBlanc shot a 49, Marona 51, Erikson 49, and Tedla a 48.

Newtown was scheduled to face New Milford at home on Wednesday (after The Bee sports section went to press), and will host Weston on Saturday at 3 pm.
