The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) announces “Rocking the Hook” Celebrate Sandy Hook, its sixth annual free outdoor concert.

This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, rain or shine, from noon to 7 pm, on Village Green, 5 Glen Road in Sandy Hook (behind Village Perk Cafe).

The 2019 lineup includes Cheap Thrill, The Traveling Danburys, and Unclaimed Baggage, along with a special performance by the Jockey Hollow Singers.

SHOP Event Coordinator Maribeth Hemingway says everyone is invited “to come and celebrate Sandy Hook, its heritage, and beautiful natural setting.”

Concert-goers can stop in shops, dine at one of the restaurants, then pull up a chair by the riverside and enjoy the music and festive atmosphere. Foundry Kitchen & Tavern will be preparing and selling food on the grounds of the concert as well. Coolers and picnic baskets will be permitted.

Limited parking is available near the stage, but patrons can park in on street spots and at Newtown United Methodist Church at 92 Church Hill Road.

SHOP Marketing Director Julie Friend is confident that “this year’s ‘Rocking the Hook’ concert will be the best event yet!”

Details about the event can be found at sandyhookvillage.com and on Facebook (Rocking the Hook — 2019 Sandy Hook Village Free Concert Event page).

Gregory D. Smith, CEO of Maplewood Senior Living, was joined recently by SHOP representatives Julie Davis Friend, left, and Maribeth Hemingway. Maplewood is the presenting sponsor of SHOP’s Sixth Annual Celebrate Sandy Hook Concert, scheduled for May 19
