Masons To Present District Deputies On Wednesday, May 9

NEW MILFORD — Robert Burden of Bridgewater and George Perry of Brookfield will be formally presented as district deputies for the Second Masonic District of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Connecticut. The presentation will take place Wednesday, May 9, at 7:30 pm at St Peter’s Masonic Lodge #21, Aspetuck Avenue, New Milford. All Masons, families, and friends are invited to attend this public ceremony.

Mr Burden and Mr Perry were named to this high Masonic office by Gustaf R. Bodin, Grand Master of Masonic of Connecticut. The appointments became effective April 4, during the 213th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, held at the Raddison Hotel and Conference Center, Cromwell.

George S. Greytak, grand senior deacon of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, will preside over the evening program, assisted by Charles W. Yohe, past grand master of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut. Gustaf R. Bodin, grand master of Masons in Connecticut, along with several other Grand Lodge officers, both past and present, will be in attendance.

Mr Burden will supervise the operations of the four Masonic Lodges in District 2A, which include Montgomery Lodge #13, Lakeville; St Peter’s Lodge #21, New Milford; St Luke’s Lodge #48, Kent; and Housatonic Lodge #63, Canaan. He was appointed to replace Albert Huttig of Goshen.

Mr Perry will supervise the operations of five Masonic Lodges in District 2B, which include King Solomon’s #7, Woodbury; Hiram Lodge #18, Sandy Hook; Ark Lodge #39, Bethel; Union Lodge #40, Danbury; and Eureka Lodge #83, Bethel. He was appointed to replace R. Alan Wells of New Milford. Mr Huttig and Mr Wells were honored with the title of past district deputy.

Mr Perry is retired form the William B. Mayer Moving Company of Stratford. He received the degree of Master Mason in 1985 at Union Lodge #40, Danbury. He served the Union Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1993. He is very active in other Concordant Masonic Bodies, including Royal Arch Mason, Commandery, Knights Templar, York Rite College, Scottish Rite and Pyramid Shrine AAONMS.

Mr Burden is retired from the Connecticut Department of Transportation. He received the degree of Master Mason in 1985 at St Peter’s Lodge #21, New Milford. He was Worshipful Master of St Peter’s Lodge in 1996 and 1997. He has been Secretary of the Lodge for 19 years, an office which he still holds. He has served on various committees in the Lodge, District, and Grand Lodge. He is also a director of the Litchfield County 4-H Foundation, and served as president for three years.

Also that evening, Albert Thierfelder of New Milford and Louis Kauffman of Danbury will be presented to the post of Associate Grand Marshall. Mr Thierfelder will be the Associate Grand Marshal in District 2A and Mr Kauffman will be Associate Grand Marshal in District 2B. Mr Thierfelder is a member of St Peter’s Lodge and served as its Worshipful Master in 1979. Mr Kauffman is a member of Union Lodge in Danbury, and Eureka Lodge #83, Bethel. He served both Lodges as Worshipful Master and is a past District Deputy, District 2B.
