Boys’ Volleyball Tops Bunnell And Wins Five-Setter At Amity

Newtown High School’s boys’ volleyball team defeated visiting Bunnell of Stratford 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-23) on April 24 and prevailed 3-2 (25-14, 25-21, 18-25, 15-25, 15-7) at Amity of Woodbridge on April 26.

Against Bunnell Charlie Hanson had 14 kills, three blocks, and five digs; Nate Twitchell had seven digs, two blocks, and eight kills; and A.J. Zatulskis recorded five aces, six digs, and two blocks. Cole Sgagliardich had two blocks and four kills; Warner Bacon logged three kills, one block, and a pair of aces; Matt Tomaj racked up 37 assists and two digs; and Eli Sillivan had six digs.

In the win over Amity Twitchell had 17 kills, six digs, two blocks, and an ace; Hanson recorded 12 kills, nine digs, three blocks, and aces; and Bacon had 12 kills, one block, and an ace. Zatulskis had three kills, one dig, and one block; Sgagliardich logged five kills, two digs, and four blocks; Tomaj compiled 49 assists, two kills, three digs, three blocks, and one ace; and Sullivan came up with 13 digs.
