The Third Annual Glenn R Benny Atkinson Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 10 at The Golf Club at Oxford Greens in Oxford.

Tournament fee is $175 per golfer and includes a round of golf, access to the driving range, lunch, and awards dinner.

Registration is due by May 31, and payment should be sent to Benny Atkinson Golf, P.O. Box 3322,  Newtown, CT 06470. Please make checks payable to: “The Glenn R. Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Fund Inc.”

Proceeds benefit youth of Newtown through scholarship and athletic programs and, starting this year, the Faith Food Pantry.

Atkinson was a swimmer in town and longtime coach of the Newtown Torpedoes swim team.

Sponsorship opportunities are available and tourney committee members are seeking silent auction and raffle items, such as game and Broadway tickets and sports memorabilia.

Scholarships in the amount of $20,000 will have been given to students by the time this year’s Newtown High School Senior Awards Night rolls around in June, according to Paul Babbage, a chairman of the tourney and a close friend of Atkinson. Additionally, $3,000 has been donated to the Faith Food Pantry.
