CONNECTICUT STAMP COLLECTING FESTIVAL WILL BE JUNE 10 IN CROMWELL

avv/gs set 5-23 #701048

CROMWELL, CONN. — The Stamp Collecting Festival will offer visitors an opportunity to find out what their stamp, cover and postcard collections might be worth when America’s longest running and most active monthly stamp show stages a “$1,000,000 Buying Treasure Hunt” on Sunday, June 10, at the Cromwell Crowne Plaza.

The semiannual “Buying Treasure Hunt” has been known to uncover some significant collections. Show producer John Dunn explained, “Some of the collections people bring us have only modest, if any, value. But we also have visitors who are pleasantly surprised by the value of their holdings.”

“It might be someone who had collected stamps or covers, then decided to give it up, or a relative who was given an old collection and didn’t think it was worth very much. With summer vacations coming, it’s a good time to convert a dust-gathering collection into some spending money,” he said.

At the show, participating dealers will provide free appraisal guidance and will even purchase material on the spot. Advice on buying, selling and caring for a collection also will be provided.

Other features include leading stamp and cover dealers offering merchandise. In addition to plenty of modern topical issues, there is always a strong representation of Nineteenth Century stamps, covers, postcards, supplies, collections and dealer lots “from just about every country there is or ever was.”

Show hours are 10 am to 4 pm. The Crowne Plaza is at 100 Berlin Road. Admission is free. For general information, stampnews@aol.com or 800-635-3351.
