Readers are reminded that flags should be lowered on Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day.

Flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise until noon, then raised briskly to the top of the staff until sunset, “in honor of this country’s battle heroes,” according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
