Nearly two months after her home was destroyed in an overnight fire, Lori Stevens is still seeing family and friends step up with offers to help her rebuild.

This weekend, the public is invited to an all-ages event being planned to take place at Reverie Brewing Company. The Church Hill Road craft brewery will host Newtown Neighbors Helping Neighbors on Sunday, June 23.

From 6 to 9 pm, the public is invited to enjoy live music by Dean Snellback & The BluesyLand Band, raffles, and plenty of opportunities to socialize.

Mr Snellback is among those working behind the scenes on the event.

“Many town residents, businesses, and musicians are helping and offering raffle gifts to help Lori Stevens rebuild her home that burned down,” he told The Newtown Bee this week. “We would like to give others the chance to help even if they can’t come, but Reverie is a great place to visit, kids are welcome, and a there is a fun patio with games they can play.”

As of June 18, the following raffle prizes had been promised: a $50 gift card from Big Y, Newtown; a $25 gift card from Cover Two Restaurant, Sandy Hook; a dental baskets from Dental Associates, Newtown; and a coffee-themed gift basket from Dunkin Donuts.

Also, a “Hangover Helper” basket from Maple Craft Foods of Sandy Hook; a $100 gift card from Max Restaurant Group in Hartford; two gift cards from Mitchells Westport, each valued at $250; a $25 gift card from My Place Restaurant, Newtown; a gift card for two manicures from Newtown Nail Spa; and a gift basket from host Reverie Brewing Company.

A $100 voucher from Sacred Anchor Tattoo Company in Rhode Island; a cut and color from Salon Michele, Newtown; a whiskey basket from Sons of Liberty; a $50 Swarovski gift card; a Swarovski Red Parrots figurine; and a wine basket from Yankee Wine & Liquors, Newtown, as well.

Raffle tickets will also be available to purchase on Sunday. According to Mr Snellback, they will be $1 each, $5 for 6, $10 for 13, and $20 for 30; all cash only. The drawing is scheduled for “around 8:30,” he said, and winners will not have to be onsite to clam their prizes, he added.

Members of the Stevens family were asleep in their circa 1900 Farrell Road home on Tuesday, May 7, when a fire broke out around 1 am.

In a note on the eventbrite page to promote Sunday’s fundraiser, Lauren Johnson — who is engaged to Alex Stevens, one of homeowner Lori Stevens’ sons — said the fire spread within minutes, and those inside the house were awoken by “a very loud noise.

“Within minutes after the noise, the entire top floor of the home was in flames that quickly traveled to the rest of the home, and shortly after that, the whole house was consumed by flames,” Ms Johnson shared.

C.J. Stevens suffered burns severe enough to require hospitalization; two others were able to escape the house without injury, including Ms Stevens.

One dog was rescued from the house during the fire, and another escaped and was found a few hours later. One cat died in the fire, however.

All five of Newtown’s fire companies responded to the fire, which took at least an hour to knock down. It then took another two hours to fully douse the fire and begin overhaul at the scene.

“Every family member in the household lost all of their belongings as well as a lifetime of memories,” Ms Johnson noted.

Ms Johnson and Ryan Bosworth, who is dating Sable Stevens (Lori’s daughter), are collaborating with Reverie Brewing for Sunday’s fundraiser.

Admission to Newtown Neighbors Helping Neighbors is $25 per person, which includes one beer and five raffle tickets. Tickets are available in advance through eventbrite.com (search for Fire Recovery-Help to rebuild all that was lost) and Reverie’s Facebook page (under Events). They will also be available at the door, 57B Church Hill Road.

Those who are unable to attend but would like to make a donation are invited to visit the gofundme page set up for the family; search for Newtown CT House Fire Recovery Effort.

Reverie Brewing Co. will host its next fundraising event on Sunday, June 23.

Dean Snellback and daughter Leigh spent some time at Reverie Brewing Company on June 16, “doing research,” he joked, ahead of Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Mr Snellback and his band will be performing during a June 23 fundraiser at the craft brewery, to help Lori Stevens and her family rebuild following a devastating house fire in May.
