One-Day Show By Ruth Newquist, Saturday

NEW FAIRFIELD — “Off To The City, Back To The Country” is the title of the next one-day art show to be presented by The Barn Gallery. The featured artist will be Ruth Newquist of Newtown, a professional artist and a former art teacher at New Fairfield High School.

Mrs Newquist has turned her attention solely to painting for the past five years and has won many prizes including over 20 awards in national art exhibitions. In 1997 she participated in the prestigious National Watercolor Society Exhibition in Brea, Calif., and received signature artist membership status in the organization. She was the featured artist on the Watercolor Pages in the June 1999 issue of American Artist magazine.

The July 14 one-person show will be held rain or shine. Mrs Newquist will have over 20 watercolors and oils on exhibit. She will also be demonstrating in oil on site in the morning and a reception will be held in the afternoon.
