Sylvia Parsons Davidson, 100, died peacefully July 25, at Masonicare in Newtown. She was born February 5, 1913, in Newtown, to Louis Birdsey Parsons and Vivian Wetmore. Her husband, Howard B. Davidson, predeceased her in 2012, after 76 years of marriage.

She graduated Central High School, Bridgeport. She was an actress in small shows, sang in choruses, and enjoyed life in all ways. Mrs Davidson was employed at W.T. Grant and then at Stratford AVCO-Lycoming.

The Davidsons camped and traveled the United States and British Isles with family. They loved plants, gardens, animals — large and small — and most especially, boxer dogs. They loved all of the extended family.

They were longtime members of the First Baptist Church, Bridgeport. Later, the Davidsons were cared for by the community of faith at the United Methodist Church of Monroe.

Her children and spouses Elizabeth D. and Carl Sword of Monroe, Carol and Howard B. Davidson, Jr, of Naugatuck, and Charles and Sonia Davidson of Las Vegas, Nev., survive Mrs Davidson. Nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive her.

The family wishes to thank the Masonicare at Newtown and most especially the Hospice team members.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, July 29, at 1:30 pm, at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutler’s Farm Road, Monroe. Prior to service, family and friends are invited to gather at the church for light refreshments at noon. Interment will follow at Zoar Cemetery, Route 34, Sandy Hook.

Memorial gifts may be made to United Methodist Church Music, United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutler’s Farm Road, Monroe CT 06468.
