St Rose of Lima School is set to celebrate 60 years in town on October 6 with a Mass and Oktoberfest-themed event. Past graduates and families are invited to attend the event and share memories of the school.

According to St Rose of Lima School Director of Mission Advancement Laura Moulder, the event has a tagline of “Remembering the Past, Relishing the Present, Rejoicing in the Future.”

On Saturday, October 6, there will be a Mass at 11 am in the church in thanksgiving for all of the administrators, teachers, staff, faculty, clergy, parents, students, and supporters of St Rose of Lima School, according to an announcement for the event. Following the Mass, an outdoor Oktoberfest-themed barbecue will be held between noon and 4 pm on the field behind the church. There will be fun, food, and festivities, including a DJ, beer garden for those 21 years and older with an ID and bracelet, crafts/games for children, and a memorabilia tent. Tours of the school will be provided by current students, and a photographer will be available for photos noon to 2:30 pm, according to the announcement.

The school’s Labor Day Parade float will reflect the landmark 60th year celebration, and activities throughout the 2018-19 school year will also mark the anniversary. The school opened its doors in 1958.

“We have a long legacy of wonderful alumni and a lot of accomplishments that we want to celebrate,” said Ms Moulder recently.

The celebration is for current families and former students and families.

“One of our calls is to bring them back in,” said Ms Moulder. “...We’re looking for their stories — anything they want to tell us about where they are at in their careers and family life; and if they have any memorabilia they would like to donate or lend, we will have a tent that will have former uniforms, trophies, and anything school-related.”

Entry to the event will be free, but RSVPs are required. St Rose of Lima School is seeking stories, photos, and other memorabilia. Questions and RSVPs can be directed to Ms Moulder by e-mail at advancement@stroseschool.com or by phone at 203-426-5102, extension 16.
