John Landolfi, 82, a longtime resident of Newtown, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Salerno, Italy, to Antonio and Elvira Provvido Landolfi. He and his father came to the United States in 1953 to join his sister and mother, who had arrived in 1952 and settled in the Bronx. The family later moved to Long Island.

After serving in the Air Force Reserves and in active service in Texas, John worked in the information technology field as a technician and then as a Regional Manager, Customer Service. He later started a handyman business, Home Free.

John loved spending time and playing cards with his family and friends. In his younger years, he led an active life and especially enjoyed swimming, playing tennis, handball, and racquetball.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Yvonne (nee Willette); son Marc; daughter Kristen Schork (husband George Schork, Jr); and two grandchildren, Reagan and Deacon Schork. He is also survived by his sister, Fay Colicchio; nephew Anthony; and niece, Laura, and their families.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 8, from 4 to 7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the American Lung Association (lung.org) or America Cancer Society (cancer.org).
