Newtown resident and Lauralton Hall rising senior Lauren Adams was among the ten students and three teachers from Lauralton Hall, Immaculate High School, Chase Collegiate School, Wooster School, Holy Cross High School, and Middlebrook Elementary who traveled for two weeks in July on an all-expenses paid trip to Chengdu, China, sponsored by AIEP (Apex International Education Partners), an international student and host family recruiting agency based in Derby.

The group traveled July 12 to July 26. As part of a culture exchange program, the students participated as leaders in the Western Tour World School program which offers Chinese students the opportunity to experience the western-style classroom of teaching and learning. The students experienced firsthand the culture by living with the Chinese student’s family. Teachers acted as chaperones and also taught courses in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), drama, public speaking, American etiquette, and more.

The program provided valuable academic courses to the students as well as offered them many new cultural experiences, according to a release from AIEP.

For more information about AIEP and its programs call 203-992-2437 or e-mail info@aiepusa.com.
