Four Tops To Headline Waterbury Festival 2003
Four Tops To Headline Waterbury Festival 2003
WATERBURY â A free concert with Motown legends The Four Tops will be at the top of the bill when Waterbury Festival 2003 takes place Friday and Saturday, September 12-13, at Library Park. The park is on Grand Street, off West Main Street.
Organizers of the ambitious event are planning a family friendly extravaganza, building on the tremendous success of last yearâs festival, which saw over 45,000 people descend on Waterburyâs Library Park for a free concert featuring KC & The Sunshine Band.
In addition to The Four Tops who will perform 8 pm on Saturday evening, many other elements are part of the now annual food and entertainment event that organizers hope will encourage people from out of town and out of state to visit and take a look at the city and all the exciting things happening there. From a custom motorcycle show on Friday and a pre-1974 Car Cruise Saturday to Waterburyâs own version of American Idol called âWaterbury Stars,â and the over 25 food and beverage vendors participating, this happening has something for everyone.
Admission to the festival is free. Refreshments will be reasonably priced.
The festival will run from 4 to 10 pm on Friday, with all booths opening at 4 and opening ceremonies at 6. Live entertainment will be provided by Second Nature and Steel Rodeo, there will be childrenâs activities, and there will be a custom motorcycle show.
Saturdayâs hours are 11 am to 11 pm, and activities will include more childrenâs activities, a health fair, Silas Bronson Libraryâs Annual Book Sale, and performances at 11:30 by the winners of the âWaterbury Starsâ competition.
Saturdayâs live entertainment will continue with performances by Marty Q at noon, and continuing with new performers at the top of every hour â Surf Squad, Wed ob Addiction, Guy Malone, After Party, Mugsyâs Back and Cross-Eyed Cat â leading to the 8 pm performance by The Four Tops.
