In conjunction with the ongoing state project to relocate the northern intersection of South Main Street and Pecks Lane, on Thursday, August 30, the intersection project's contractor and the Aquarion Water Company will be working on switching over water service to a new 12-inch-diameter water on South Main Street between Pecks Lane and Cedar Hill Road, according to the state Department of Transportation (DOT).

Crews will be working along the southbound shoulder of South Main Street in that area to make the water system changes. Newtown police will direct traffic in the area as the work is underway.

Water service in that area is expected to be shut off on Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm, according to DOT.
