On Saturday, September 14, the Newtown High School Kindness Club will host a Day of Kindness. The free event is aimed at local youth, but is open to residents of all ages.

The Day of Kindness will run from noon to 4 pm at NHS’s cafetorium, 12 Berkshire Road, and will be filled with activities and events focusing on giving back.

Some of the groups that will be participating in the day are Stars of Hope, who will have volunteers coming from Georgia, Texas, North Dakota, Missouri, New York, and New Jersey; Newtown Kindness, Ben’s Bells Newtown, Hearts of Hope Newtown, and Actively Caring For People.

Comfort dogs Addie, Maggie, and Spartacus will also be at the high school. There will also be music, face painting, dancing, snacks, and other fun things for all ages.

My Place Restaurant will be selling pizza slices, and Newtown Kindness will be giving away apple cider.

Live music will be performed by The Adults, and a yoga class will be led by Aline.

Contact Lisa Sheridan at sheridanl@newtown.k12.ct.us for further information.

There is also an event page set up for Day of Kindness on Facebook for anyone who would like to sign up for the event, or follow its developments.
