The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced plans for a project that will resurface a 4,000-foot segment of the I-84 Exit 11 ramp.

The project is scheduled to begin at 9 pm Monday, October 21, and continue until 5 am Tuesday, October 22.

The work, according to an employee at CT DOT, will cover both ramps. Resurfacing will run from where the east- and westbound offramps meet, out to Wasserman Way. It will also cover the onramps, from Wasserman Way to just north of the Berkshire Road overpass.

The DOT spokesperson also said that drivers may notice work beginning earlier than 9 pm Monday.

“They will probably be on site by 8:30, setting up directionals and getting everything into place,” said the spokesperson.

“Motorists can expect lane closures on I-84, Exit 11, Newtown, between [State Route] 490 [Wasserman Way] in Newtown and Bridge #02985 in Newtown,” according to the announcement. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions, according to DOT.
