Discover Martinmas!

The Housatonic Valley Waldorf School’s Early Childhood faculty will celebrate Martinmas with a program for children age 2 to 6 on Saturday, November 15, from 4 to 5:15 pm. Parents must accompany children. The public is welcome to attend.

Martinmas is a northern European festival commemorating St Martin, patron saint of outcasts. Alive during the Middle Ages, St Martin is best known for his ability to bring the light of human kindness to others.

To bring light to the hearts of others, parents and children can construct a simple, colorful paper lantern with cutout stars, moons, and suns. Hear a special Martinmas story and sing special songs. Later, join in a magical procession of twinkling lanterns, symbolizing the light of love and generosity.

All materials are provided; a $5 donation is recommended. Reservations are encouraged. For reservations, directions, or more information, contact the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School at 364-1113 or visit www.waldorfct.org.
