Grace Family Church celebrated a big step last week in the construction of its new church building, which is being built off Covered Bridge Road in Hawleyville.

Pastor Sheila Fredericks, the assistant senior pastor at Grace Family Church (GFC) and Anne Durant, an evangelist and friend of Pastor Fredericks were among those at the construction site of the new church on November 1, shortly after building’s steeple was put into place.

The 14-foot tall cross will be lit from within once the church is completed, according to Pastor Fredericks.

The new 24,900-square-foot church will replace GFC’s existing church at 174 Mount Pleasant Road, which is about half that size. The new church is being constructed on a 17-acre lot west of Hawleyville Road and south of te Exit 9 interchange of I-84.

Pastor Fredericks said last week that she and her family, staff, and congregation expect to be able to move into their new house of worship within a few months.

“Probably by the beginning of January, we will be able to move in,” she said. “We’re looking forward to that.”
