Newtown Sparks 5, Trumbull Chargers 0: Strategic passing and teamwork throughout the game gave the Sparks an edge over the Chargers to win their last game of the season. After taking an early 3-0 lead in the first half against an aggressive Trumbull offense, an impressive save by Jackie Seras kept the Chargers from finding the back of the net. Emily Celentano had her second hat-trick of the season with an assist from Carly Swierbut on her first goal. Kristen Cirone rounded out the scoringwith two goals.  

Dynamites 3, New Canaan 0: Ali Kelleher scored the first goal. Katie Sailer, Brooke Antous, Rebecca Gavel, Keeley Kortze, and Jenna Lavelle all had shots for the Dynamites. Lu Hage was able to find the back of the net after some fancy footwork took her past the New Canaan defense. In the second half, Haley Harkins, Audrey Benson, Brooke Antous, and Rebecca Gavel all had shots with Katie Sailer scoring the final goal of the game. Lauren Carrino and Grace Corcoran kept the ball out of Newtown’s territory. Jenna Lavelle had a save in goal. The Dynamites finished the season 8-0-1.

Greenwich 4, Panthers 3: The Newtown Panthers went to Westport on Saturday to face a tough Greenwich team in playoffs. The day was crisp and the Panthers came to play. The Panthers had the first shots on goal with Anna Moscovici taking a terrific strike that bounced off the post, followed by a tough shot by Juliett Grover that missed by inches. After falling behind, the Panthers roared back with a nice shot by Bella Jimenez, off a great pass from Charlie Condon. Alexis Mason got the second goal with a direct score of a corner kick (her second of the season). The Panthers kept their strong offense going throughout the second half with tremendous pressure from Alexis Mason, Bella Jimenez, Anna Moscovici, Charlie Condon, Juliett Grover, and Mary Hufziger. Tough defense was led, as always, by Audrey Sedensky, and great performances from Greta Staubly, Maria Ringes, Diana Kirkman, and Catherine Shaw. Kira Kelly had another great performance as keeper. The Panthers stayed tough and Bella Jimenez got her second goal of the game and the third for the Panthers, but Greenwich put the pressure on the Panther defense and prevailed, The Panthers end their season strong, however, with a record of 6-1-1.

Great performances all year by Alexis Mason, Bella Jimenez, Anna Moscovici, Audrey Sedensky, Maria Ringes, Charlie Condon, Greta Staubly, Kira Kelly, Mary Hufziger, Diana Kirkman, Catherine Shaw, and Juliett Grover were critical to the teams success.

Newtown Breeze 4, Bridgeport 1: Newtown finished the fall season with a convincing win over Bridgeport. Rylee Mulligan started Newtown off with a goal early in the game. Sarah Houle added another to make the score 2-0 at the half. Cassidy Kortze and Maggie Beardsley controlled the midfield, keeping the offensive pressure on Bridgeport, while Erin Tressler, Lauren King, and Ashley Santore kept Bridgeport scoreless. Natalie Kelchner kept Newtown rolling in the second half, scoring off of a Bridgeport penalty. Bridgeport countered with a penalty kick of its own, but Kelchner scored again. As they have for the entire season, Sam Crespo, Jacklin Gouveia, and Savannah Mather played tough at both ends of the field to give Newtown another win.
