Newtown’s D14 cheerleading squad won its division at the New England Regional Championships, at UMass Amherst, in Amherst, Mass, on November 21.

All three of Newtown’s teams had great performances in the competition. The D10 and D12 cheer squads placed fourth in their respective divisions. The D14 team qualifies for the American Youth Cheer National Competition in Orlando, on December 12.

The routines are filled with difficult tumbling and stunts, along with cheer and dance.

Newtown’s D14 team is led by Head Coach Melissa Gordon, and assistant coaches Christine Vigneau, Lynn Lewis, Cara Pellicone, and Val Frate, along with junior coaches Annika Alexandra and Rian Frate.

Cheerleaders are Geneva Cunningham, Kali Ryder, Alexa Gordon, Gina Lewis, Nicky Shairer, Ashley Hammond, Abby Grenier, Natalie Horn, Tori Duarte, Caroline Tousignant, Danielle Vigneau, Emi Rosenthal, Julia Pellicone, Madi Del Pozo, Jessie Eisele, Alexa Lugo, Annie Richards, Vanessa Bajraliu, Emily Hammond, Katie Ryan, Ella Marsh, Allie Luby, Ellie Zeller, Jenna Reilly, and Eliza Estes.
