Town offices and other entities, including the office of The Newtown Bee, will be affected in upcoming weeks by Christmas and New Year’s.

All town offices and agencies will be closing at noon on Monday, December 24, for Christmas Eve. They will remain closed on Tuesday, December 25. They will reopen at 8 am Wednesday, December 26.

They will follow the same schedule the following week, closing at noon Monday, December 31, and remaining closed until 8 am Wednesday, January 2.

Newtown Senior Center will follow the same schedule.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road, open only for contractors on Mondays, will also close at noon Monday each week. It will reopen on Wednesdays, December 26 and January 2, at 7 am.

C.H. Booth Library will be closed Tuesdays, December 25 and January 1.

The public schools will be on an early dismissal schedule for Friday, December 21. They will then be closed December 24-January 1. Classes resume on January 2.

The office of The Newtown Bee, at 5 Church Hill Road, will be open on Mondays, December 24 and 31, until 3 pm.

The Newtown Bee office will be closed Tuesdays, December 25 and January 1.

Deadlines

The print editions of December 28, 2018, and January 4, 2019, will be printed and mailed on their regular schedule of early Thursday afternoons.

A number of editorial and advertising deadlines will be affected each week.

Items for the Business and Health sections must be received no later than noon on Friday, December 21, in order to be considered for the print edition of December 28, 2018.

Items for Community Calendar, Education, Enjoy, Religion, Sports, and general news announcements must be received by noon on Monday, December 24, to be considered for that week’s print edition.

The same schedule will be followed the following week for the issue of January 4, 2019.
