Two Warrants

After learning that police held two warrants for his arrest, Robert Abram, 77, of 19 Castle Meadow Road went to the police station on the morning of December 19 and was charged, police said.

Police said they charged Abram with second-degree failure to appear in court and with failure to respond to an infraction in connection with past incidents.

Abram was released on $603 bail for a January 6 appearance in Danbury Superior Court, police said.

Vandalism

Early on the morning of Saturday, December 20, someone vandalized exterior holiday decorations positioned at residential properties on Baldwin Road and West Street, police said. The two streets extend from Sugar Street. Police are investigating the criminal mischief and ask anyone with knowledge of the incidents to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Ford Vs Porsche

At about 4:30 pm on December 19, motorist Joel Segalman, 51, of Ridgefield, who was driving a 2015 Porsche Macan SUV northward near 71 South Main Street, came to a stop due to traffic conditions, after which the Porsche was struck from behind by motorist Terrance Haase, 61, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck northward, police said.

There were no injuries. Haase received an infraction for following too closely, police said.

Weapon Charge

State police report they stopped motorist Cory Zachos, 23, of Madison on Interstate 84 about 1:28 am on December 16, after seeing that the vehicle Zachos was driving had its marker-plate lighting off.

State police said a search of the vehicle turned up a double-edged weapon. State police charged Zachos with possession of weapon in a motor vehicle.

Zachos was released on $2,500 bail for a January 6 court appearance, state police.

Juveniles With Drugs

Police report that while on patrol at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street at about 4:30 pm on December 19, they learned that two boys were likely using drugs in a field adjacent to the shopping center, so they investigated.

Police said they located two boys in the field smoking marijuana. Police said they also found that the boy who had driven a vehicle to the shopping center had a full bottle of alcohol inside the vehicle.

Police said they charged the driver with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said they charged the other boy with possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

A police dog was used in the investigation, police said.

Both youths were issued a juvenile summonses for January 12 appearances in Danbury Juvenile Court. Both boys we released into the custody of their parents.

Because the youths are under age 18, police did not disclose their identities.

Warrant

Police report that at about 6:50 am on December 23, after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Joshua Adams, 23, of 32 Jo-Mar Drive turned himself over to police the police station.

Police said they charged Adams with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree criminal trespassing. The charges stem from an April 8 incident, police said.

Police said they held Adams on $500 bail for arraignment that day in Danbury Superior Court.

Buick Down Embankment

Police report that motorist Nancy Fansher, 83, of 4 Kale Davis Road was driving a 1998 Buick Regal sedan southward on Main Street at about 5:30 pm on December 22 and then attempted to turn right onto Mile Hill Road, but made too wide a turn and the vehicle drove down an embankment near the intersection, coming to rest near a large tree.

Farland Fansher, 97, of the same address, was a passenger in the auto, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the scene. There were no injuries. Nancy Fansher received a written warning for making a restricted turn, police said.

Emergency personnel responded to a serious two-vehicle accident that occurred about 11:43 pm on December 19 on the northern section of Huntingtown Road, near the parking lot entrance for Orchard Hill Nature Center. Police said that motorist Kenneth Dell, 48, of 2 Shepaug Road was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck northward, as motorist Daniel Creaturo, 23, of 332 South Main Street was driving a 1999 Ford Taurus station wagon southward. The truck traveled across the road’s center line and struck the station wagon, police said. The truck then reentered the northbound lane, flipped over and landed on some flex-beam metal guardailing, police said. Botsford Fire Rescue volunteer firefighters extricated Creaturo from the station wagon’s wreckage, said Botsford Chief Wayne Ciaccia. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Creaturo and Taurus passenger Briana Cologna, 21, of 4 Castle Lane, and also Dell and F-250 passenger Mark Passero, 47, of 64 Glen Road to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. The section of Huntingtown Road near the collision was closed to through-traffic while the investigation took place. The accident remains under investigation, police said.
