Hours for Town offices and other entities, including the office of The Newtown Bee, will be affected in upcoming days by the New Year’s holiday. Many deadlines for this newspaper will also be affected.

All town offices and agencies will be closing at noon on Monday, December 31, and remain closed until 8 am, Wednesday, January 2.

Newtown Senior Center will follow the same schedule.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road, open only for contractors on Mondays, will also close at noon Monday, December 31. It will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, at 7 am.

C.H. Booth Library will be closing at 1 pm on Monday, December 31. It will be closed Tuesday, January 1.

The public schools have been closed this week. Classes resume on January 2.

The office of The Newtown Bee, at 5 Church Hill Road, will be open on Monday, December 31, until 3 pm. The office will be closed Tuesdays, December 25 and January 1.

The print edition of January 4, 2019, will be printed and mailed on its regular schedule.

As with the Christmas holiday, a number of deadlines will be affected in the upcoming week. Items for the Business and Health sections must be received no later than noon on Friday, December 28; items for Community Calendar, Education, Enjoy, Religion, Sports, and general news announcements must be received by noon on Monday, December 31, to be considered for that week’s print edition.
