Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) has selected Melissa Lopata of Newtown as the marketing coordinator for Sandy Hook Village. Ms Lopata will be introduced at the Sandy Hook Village Action Planning Workshop on Wednesday, March 12.
Newtown residents and visitors to Sandy Hook have undoubtedly noticed recent improvements in the business district. Phase II of the new streetscape, with sidewalks, pedestrian-oriented lighting and amenities, was recently completed, enhancing the visual impression and creating a more enjoyable and walkable environment.
The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) is looking for a marketing and communications professional to implement its new Sandy Hook Community Branding Campaign. The organization’s new “brand steward” will utilize the new community brand to create marketing pieces for Sandy Hook Village businesses and incorporate the brand identity with the village and SHOP events.

This year, the Sandy Hook community gathered to light our traditional tree, and then joined together in lighting Sandy Hook’s new tree just across the street! From the snow flurries outside Sandy Hook Hair Co. to 3D glasses, from Santa’s visit to face painting, it was a festive night in Sandy Hook with our biggest crowd ever!

The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) will present the Third Annual Passport to Sandy Hook on Saturday, October 12, from 11 am to 4 pm. More than 30 merchants have contributed toward this year’s prize packages.
To be eligible to win one of the three prize packages, valued at a total of $3,500, visitors must have their passports stamped at all 32 participating locations. Locations are within walking distance of the Church Hill Road-Glen Road-Riverside Road-Washington Avenue intersection.
Raising glasses in a champagne toast on Friday, October 4, officials and residents seated along a decorative stone wall and standing on a new stamped concrete walkway on the corner of Riverside Road and Washington Avenue cheered as antique-style lampposts suddenly lit.
Flipping a switch in a circuit box across from the intersection, First Selectman Pat Llodra watched the lamps light, then quickly returned to the crowd for a sip of champagne. Friday celebrated the completion of Phase II streetscape in Sandy Hook Center.
