A Wonderful Lady
A Wonderful Lady
To the Editor:
I just wanted to write and say how saddened I was to hear of the loss of one of Newtownâs finest citizens. I speak of the wonderful lady, Mrs Sarah Mannix.
I was born and brought up in Newtown just a half mile from Mrs Mannixâs home. I have such fond memories of walking down to her house to ice skate on her pond, after which she would always call us in for a cup of hot cocoa and something sweet to nibble on. During the summer months we would catch pollywogs and she would have a glass jar for us to put them in to watch, but always convinced us to put them back in the pond to grow up to be happy frogs. She had a way with kids, animals, and plants alike, as well as with anyone she met. What a wonderful lady God has added to his heavens. I am sure she will have a sweet thing to say to my dear sister Kim when she sees her up there. Kim was also a frequent visitor of the Mannix pond and home through our growing up years.
Rest in peace dear Mrs Mannix.
Sincerely,
Mrs Amy (Robins) Goodsell
