You may drop in at the Senior Center on Riverside Road in Sandy Hook weekdays between 10 am and 4 pm. A hot meal is served at noon for which you must reserve three days in advance.

Newtown has daily door-to-door mini-bus service Monday through Friday. Monday from 1 to 3 pm the mini-bus will go to Sand Hill Plaza. Fridays, the bus will alternate going to Danbury Fair Mall and to Berkshire Shopping Plaza. Cost is 60 cents each way for the Sand Hill Plaza trip, 75 cents each way for out of town. Call 748-2511 TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE to book a ride and get the out-of-town Friday schedule.

News For Week of January 10-14

A REMINDER that the center will be closed Monday, January 17, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr Day.

There will be a BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK on Thursday, January 13. No appointment is necessary.

Please join us every Monday for BIBLE STUDY. We meet at 1 pm.

BOOK EXCHANGE: Put one in, take one out… Come browse our Book Exchange shelves and trade your good condition paperbacks or hardcovers.

TAP DANCING CLASS — Pat Babbage is starting a beginner’s tap dancing class. Call 270-4310 to sign up. Any hard-soled shoes are fine.

NEW HORIZONS meets the first Tuesday of the month. The next meeting is Tuesday, January 4.

Beginning Monday, February 7, and continuing through Monday, March 27, AARP income tax representatives will be at the center to assist with income tax preparation. The service is being offered by appointment only on Mondays only between 9 am and noon. You must bring last year’s tax return and any other pertinent information for this year. Please call 270-4310 for an appointment.

Over the next few months, the center will be assembling a Millennium Booklet. If you would care to share any reflections, thoughts or memories about your life or your time in our town, we would love to include them. Please mail them or drop them off here at the center.

The London and Paris trip is filled; there is now a waiting list. Bermuda and Ireland info is still available. Day trip booklets will be available early next year.

Come join us in fabulous NEW ORLEANS. Information is now available at the center. We are departing September 27 for five fun-filled days.

Menu For Week Of January 10-14

Reservations must be made three days in advance.

Meals are subject to change.

Meals include milk and margarine.

Monday: Beef stew, noodles, vegetables, biscuit, peaches;

Tuesday: Herb baked chicken, herb stuffing & gravy, peas & mushrooms, whole wheat bread, fresh fruit;

Wednesday: Eggplant Parmesean w/ shells & tomato sauce, chopped spinach, garlic bread, pineapple tidbits;

Thursday: Cream of carrot soup, unsalted crackers, buttercrumb fish, tater tots, zucchini, dinner roll, fruit cocktail;

Friday: Oven fried chicken, black-eyed peas, collard greens, corn bread, sweet potato pie w/ topping.

Activities Schedule, January 10-14

Monday: AM Pinochle/Bridge, crafts, walking (meet at Dickinson Park pavilion), art class, Medicare and insurance help; PM yoga, Bible study group meeting;

Tuesday: AM Pinochle, exercise, keyboard class (Level I); PM needlecraft, bowling (at Brookfield Lanes);

Wednesday: AM line dancing, Pinochle; PM Bingo;

Thursday: AM exercise, Pinochle, PM crafts, bowling (at Brookfield Lanes), blood pressure checks;

Friday: AM Christmas crafts, sewing/quilting group, mah jongg; PM knitting.

 Remember, you must call three days in advance to book a meal or a ride, 270-4310; the Senior Bus, 748-2511.
