Programs For Parents

Change of Dates For Positive Parenting Programs: “Positive Parenting” (geared for parents of pre-school and elementary students) will now begin on Tuesday, January 25. “Welcome to the Teen Zone” (recommended for middle and high school parents) sessions will meet on Wednesday evenings, beginning January 26. Both courses run for 5 weeks, from 7 to 8:30 pm, and are held in NYS’s Parents’ Corner. The fee is $25. Also, if you wold like to host a 5 week group at your home, a staff member would be happy to arrange this with you. This is a great way for neighbors to get to know one another. Interested in sharing parenting skills with others? NYS is holding a Positive Parenting Training Day on Saturday, January 29, from 9 to 1. You do not need to have participated in the PP programs in order to attend. This course is free for Newtown residents and $50 for out-of-towners. For further information, please call the office.

Father’s Night – Jeff Steinberg will resume his popular series on Monday, January 10 from 7:30 to 9 pm in the Parents’ Corner. Fathers only please. No fee.

Youth Group Meetings

 

The High School Youth Advisory Board (HS YAB) will meet on Monday, January 31, at 6:30 pm.

NYCAAP will continue to meet alternate Monday and Tuesday evenings. The next meeting will be Monday, January 10 at 5:30 pm.

The Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB) meetings will be announced. Please check YAB bulletin boards.
