South Main DWI

Police report they observed motorist Lana L. Turzer, 49, of 41 Bay Colony Trailer Park, South Main Street, Botsford, driving erratically on South Main Street about 1:20 am January 1. Police said they stopped Turzer and gave her field sobriety tests, which she failed.

Police said they charged her with driving while intoxicated and failure to drive to the right on a curve. After processing, police released Turzer on a $50 bond for a January 13 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Porsche Vs Town Truck

Motorist Christopher P. Bauer, 28, of Danbury was negotiating a curve in a 1985 Porsche 928-S on Castle Hill Road about 11:30 am December 28 when he saw a town snowplow approaching from the opposite direction, police said.

Bauer applied the Porsche’s brakes but slid into the truck’s lane, striking the town dump truck driven by John S. Mead, 57, of 112 South Main Street, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Bauer a written warning for failure to drive to the right on a curve.

Hanover Road

Motorist William H. Lang, Jr, 27, of Kent, who was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on Hanover Road about 7:30 am December 30, went off the right side of the road as he was negotiating a curve and struck several trees, police report.

Land was not injured in the accident, police said. Police verbally warned him for making an improper turn.

Church Hill Collision

Motorist Louise M. Chambers, 66, of Longmeadow, Mass, who was driving a 1999 Honda Odyssey minivan westbound on Church Hill Road about 1:10 pm December 28, was making a left turn into a driveway at 62 Church Hill Road when she collided with an eastbound 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by John J. Bush, 24, of Beacon Falls, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Chambers an infraction ticket on a charge of making a restricted turn.  Police issued Bush an infraction ticket on charges of failure to carry a motor vehicle registration and failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.

Boulevard Accident

Police report a two-car accident at The Boulevard overpass which crosses above the Housatonic Railroad train tracks about 8:30 am December 17.

Motorist Jason W. Talbot, 29, of Brookfield, who was northbound in a 1987 Jeep Cherokee, collided with southbound motorist Aaron Cox, 26, of 31 Pond Brook Road, who was driving a 1987 Plymouth Horizon, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said they issued Talbot a misdemeanor summons on charges of misuse of marker plates and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Police said they also issued Talbot a written warning for operating a motor vehicle with an expired license, failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card, and a travel lane violation.

 

Deli Larceny

Police report they charged Big Y supermarket deli department employee Herminio Santana, 40, of 39 High Rock Road, Sandy Hook, with sixth-degree larceny about 9 pm January 4 after store security personnel reportedly saw Santana eating a sandwich without having paid for it.

Police released Santana on a promise to appear January 13 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the larceny charge.

Probation Charge

Police said they went to the Danbury Superior Court lockup on the morning of December 30 and served an arrest warrant against Dennis Rowell, 20, of Waterbury, listing one count of violation of probation. Rowell was scheduled to be present in court that day on the charge, police said.

VW Vs Deer

Police report motorist Juleen P. Hanigan, 52, of Bethel, who was driving a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta on Route 302 about 8 pm January 3, collided with a deer on the road, resulting in heavy front-end damage to the car. Hanigan was not injured, police said.

Church Hill Road

Motorist Daniel T. Wing, 71, of Kensington, who was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Church Hill Road about 4 pm January 5, was making a left turn into the Blue Colony Diner parking lot when he collided with an eastbound 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Paul Kaufman, 59, of Orangeburg, NY, police said. There were no injuries. Police gave Wing a written warning for making a restricted turn.
