Youth Services Receives Grant
Newtown Youth Services has received a grant of $1,000 for its monthly newsletter PIE (Parentsâ Idea Exchange) from the Daphne Seybolt Culpeper Memorial Foundation in Norwalk.
The foundation was established in 1983 to provide support for a variety of non-profit efforts, including those for children, youth and families.
The PIE newsletter is produced by NYS each month during the school year and distributed free of charge to every child in Newtownâs private and public preschools, elementary and middle schools, by mailing list, and at various drop-off points including the library and Drug Center.
Each monthâs newsletter has a different theme pertaining to child development and parenting. Issues for the rest of this school year will cover âSelf-Esteem vs Character,â âFriendship and Dating,â âThe Importance of Play,â âFamily Work,â âDevelopmental Assets,â and âSiblings.â
If you do not receive PIE and would like to be placed on the mailing list, call Youth Services at 270-4335.
