Youth Services Receives Grant

Newtown Youth Services has received a grant of $1,000 for its monthly newsletter PIE (Parents’ Idea Exchange) from the Daphne Seybolt Culpeper Memorial Foundation in Norwalk.

The foundation was established in 1983 to provide support for a variety of non-profit efforts, including those for children, youth and families.

The PIE newsletter is produced by NYS each month during the school year and distributed free of charge to every child in Newtown’s private and public preschools, elementary and middle schools, by mailing list, and at various drop-off points including the library and Drug Center.

Each month’s newsletter has a different theme pertaining to child development and parenting. Issues for the rest of this school year will cover “Self-Esteem vs Character,” “Friendship and Dating,” “The Importance of Play,” “Family Work,” “Developmental Assets,” and “Siblings.”

If you do not receive PIE and would like to be placed on the mailing list, call Youth Services at 270-4335.
