Newtown Photographer Marleen Cafarelli is presenting her fifth solo exhibition, “Life in The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard,” throughout the month of January. The exhibition is on view in the main corridor of Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street within the Fairfield Hills campus.

Documenting activities, and events taken over the past five years, this exhibit featuring the troopers and their beloved horses offers visitors a clear understanding of life in the Horse Guard.

Cafarelli’s photos are on display for viewing between 8 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard was originally formed more than 200 years ago to protect the governor of Connecticut in times of peace, or war.

The Horse Guard of today, which is part of the organized militia of the State of Connecticut under the direction of the governor and National Guard, is far more diverse than in the past.
