PARENTING IN THE TEEN ZONE, for parents of middle and high school students, will begin on Thursday, January 18, and continue on January 25, February 1, 8, and 15. The program begins at 7 pm. Perfect for parents trying to understand the ups and downs, ins and outs, and doâs and donâts of parenting a teen or almost teen. This is a five-week session and the fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple, which includes all materials.
POSITIVE PARENTING FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS is a new course for parents. This course runs Mondays, 9 am. Dates for the New Year are January 22, February 5, 26, March 5, 19, April 2, 23, 30, May 14, and June 4. The fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple. This includes all materials and applies for the whole year, as this in an on-going program. All are welcome at any time.
It is necessary to register for all parenting courses.
FATHERSâ NIGHT â Please note change of date â kicks off the New Year on Monday, January 22, at 7:30.
NEW MOMSâ GROUP â Eight-week program.
Moms of young children up to 12 months â Wednesdays, 10-11 am. Begins January 17.
Moms of toddlers and pre-schoolers â FULL.

AN INFORMATIVE COMMUNITY PANEL: âSUBSTANCE AND TODAYâSâ TEENSâ â Wednesday, February 7, at 7:30 pm in the Newtown High School Lecture Hall.
Popular Event Returns
Newtown Youth Services once again sponsors its Dinner Dance and Auction on Saturday, March 17, 7 pm at the Fireside Inn. This fun fundraising event features fabulous professional âimpersonators,â great food, plenty of dancing, amazing auctionables, and door prizes. Tickets are $35 per person. For info, please call NYS.
4-H Clubs â On-Going
Fourth and fifth grades continue to meet on Monday afternoons from 3:15-4:30. Middle School grades meet on Wednesdays, from 4 to 5:15 pm. Both groups will meet at NYS. Membership is free but space is limited. For additional information or to register, please call the office.

RICCIâS ACADEMY â 2 WEEKS â SESSION A
Learn about hair and nail care from the beauty professionals in town! To be held at Ricciâs â Tuesdays, January 23 and 30, 4 to 5 pm. Limit 15. Fee is $10 (checks made out to Ricciâs Academy).
BOYS CIRCUIT TRAINING â 6 WEEKS â SESSION B
Learn everything you want to know from the professionals at Newtown Health and Fitness, where this session will be held. Monday, January 29 to March 12 â time is 4 to 5 pm. Limit is 12. Fee is $50 (Checks made out to Newtown Health and Fitness).
DANCE â THREE WEEKS â SESSION C
Learn popular, Latin, and folk dances and perform a recital at your last session! To be held at Newtown Youth Services, Mondays, January 29 to February 12 â time is 4 to 5 pm. Limit is 6. No fee.
BIG Y â 6 WEEKS â SESSION D
Get behind the scenes look at how Big Y really works! To be held at Big Y. Thursdays, January 25 to March 8 â time is 4 to 5 pm. Limit 6. No fee.
You must call Newtown Youth Services, 270-4335, to sign up for all programs. This is for grades 6, 7, and 8.
Youth Group Meetings
The High School Youth Advisory Board (YAB) will meet on Monday, January 29, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB) will hold their first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, January 23, from 3:45 to 4:45 pm in the MS teachersâ lunch room. We will work on a special project.
NYCAAP will meet on Tuesday, January 23. Meeting time is 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
