Nighthawk Gymnasts Second At Pomperaug Invitational

SOUTHBURY — Newtown High School's gymnastics team was runner-up among 11 schools at the Pomperaug Invitational on January 11. Newtown scored 130.150 points. Fairfield Warde won the competition with 134.450.

Hannah Jojo was third in the all around with a score of 33.9 and Marisa Choi came in tenth in the all around with a 32.250.

Jojo tied for seventh on the vault with a score of 8.6, Brynn Reilly tied for tenth on the vault with an 8.45, and Choi tied for 11th with a score of 8.4. Kayleigh Troy came in 16th on vault with an 8.1, Cyrena Arokium was 19th with a 7.95, and Lauren Young tied for 20th with a 7.9.

Choi was fourth on the beam with an 8.45, Kaitlin Yeaton tied for sixth with an 8.35, Jojo tied for eighth with an 8.2, Casey Sullivan tied for 11th with an 8, and Mary Locke finished 12th with a score of 7.95.

Jojo tied for fifth on the floor with an 8.5, Choi tied for seventh with an 8.3, Reilly tied for ninth with a score of 8.1, Young tied for 13th with a 7.6, and Caroline Gardner tied for 15th with a 7.4.

Jojo was fifth on bars with a score of 8.6, Locke tied for 11th with a 7.8, Reilly tied for 12th with a 7.6, Choi and Young tied for 17th with scores of 7.1, and Addie Sullivan placed 21st with a score of 6.7.
