More people are choosing to plan in advance for their own or a loved one’s funeral as an alternative to having others make the decision for them. With that in mind, Newtown Parks & Recreation is sponsoring a new workshop, “Insider’s Guide To Pre-Planning Your End-Of-Life Celebration,” next week.

All are welcome to the free event, scheduled for Tuesday, January 25, at 7 pm, at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.

The program will be led by Daniel Honan, owner and funeral director, Honan Funeral Home of Newtown; and Maureen Crick Owen, president, Newtown Village Cemetery Association. Crick Owen is also the current president of Connecticut Cemetery Association.

The class is meant for those age 17 and up. Registration is required.

Contact Parks & Rec at 203-270-4340 or newtown-ct.gov/parks-recreation to register (Activity 201501A) and for additional information.
