Mrs DeRosa: New Teacher

Although Mrs DeRosa wanted to be an astronaut all through high school she got the amazing career as a second grade teacher. Her favorite subject to teach is reading because she loves books and loves to share them.

“I was hoping to teach second grade because in second grade they are still young and eager to learn,” said Mrs DeRosa, formally known as Miss Tapper. “I make learning fun by playing a lot of games, moving around a lot, and I try to relate learning to a second grader’s world.”

When she was a kid her favorite subject was science because she loved finding out how things work. “Being a new teacher is always a lot of work getting used to the curriculum, but having experience has helped,” said Mrs DeRosa.

She used to teach at her old hometown and told us a little bit about the differences from this school and her old school. “There’s a lot more family involvement in this school. Home and school work together really well which benefits the student,” Mrs DeRosa said. She gave a little advice for other new teachers which was to enjoy the students and have fun as you teach.
