Red Cross Seeks Vehicles

NEW HAVEN — The South Central Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for a few good cars, trucks and motorcycles for the Donated Property Program.

All vehicles are picked up from the owner’s residence free of charge and the donor will receive a tax receipt for the fair market value of the vehicle. The proceeds from this program will be used to fund local emergency needs such as food, clothing and shelter to disaster victims.

When disaster strikes, the Red Cross provides assistance to support the needs of those affected by disaster. “Already this year, on average, the Red Cross has responded to more than 50,000 disasters all across the nation, including hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, single family and apartment fires, hazardous material incidents, civil disturbances, transportation accidents and other natural and human caused disasters,” said Kathy Morrell, financial development director. “The Red Cross also works in local communities to help the public prepare for and cope with disasters.” All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.

To donate a used vehicle or to receive more information, contact Kathy Morrell at the South Central CT chapter of the Red Cross at 203/787-6721.
