“A Coach, Mentor, And Leader: NHS Football’s Bobby Pattison Steps Down To Be A Family Man,” by Andy Hutchison, published January 25. Since 2017, Bobby Pattison has been the Head Coach of Newtown High School’s football team. Pattison informed school administration on January 19 that this past fall was his last — at least for now. “Gardener Teaches How To Successfully Plant Native Seeds This Winter,” by Alissa Silber, published January 25. Newtown High School’s wrestling team celebrated its future as well as its very recent past, along with the present — and capped things off with a victory on January 18, as the Nighthawks toppled visiting Stratford 54-18 to improve to 11-2. A “short-term solution” to Newtown’s transportation issues is being worked on according to Superintendent of Schools Chris Melillo. “The ABCs of Newtown: L Is For Lakes (Zoar And Lillinonah),” by Shannon Hicks, published January 26. “The ABCs of Newtown” is a series tying each letter of the alphabet to something in Newtown. Lake Lillinonah and Lake Zoar are both man-made creations within the Housatonic River, each with lengthy western shorelines extending through Newtown.
