John Lorenze Krause, Jr, passed away on Saturday, January 30, at the age of 64. He was born January 25, 1957, in Norwalk, Conn., to Shirley Hoyt and John Lorenze Krause, Sr. He grew up in Westport, Conn., graduating from Staples High school in 1975. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University briefly before graduating from Norwalk Community College in 1980 with a degree in computer programming. He received a Bachelor of Science in information technology in 2002 and a Master of Science in information technology in 2016 from Sacred Heart University.

John met his “lovely bride” Pamela Mulreed in 1978 and they married in New Canaan, Conn., on July 25, 1981. They lived in Norwalk, Conn., and Rochester, N.Y., before settling in their home in Newtown in 1998. John was a pet lover, computer geek, Newtown Band Parent, pun-king, and dad-joker extraordinaire. He enjoyed camping with his family, as well as participating in Halloween parades, bingo, and at least one drag show. He loved flying, so much so that he obtained his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He was a self-made handyman and fixer-upper, a skill he learned by reading library books to help his mom add a living room to their home in Westport, having paid for the materials with money he saved from a summer job when he was 14. John continued to learn how to create and repair throughout his life, as he was always involved in home improvement tasks for both his daughters’ homes and his own through the years. He loved and supported everyone around him and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

John is survived by his wife, Pamela Mulreed Krause; his daughter, Nicole Neylon, and her husband, Steve; his two granddaughters, Penelope Rose and Hannah Avery; and his daughter Amanda Krause and her partner, Robert Daley. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Krause Goico, Julia Krause, and Tony Hoyt, as well as several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a spirited husky, Falcor, and cuddly cat, Felix.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Shirley, and his stepfather, Horace “Hy” Hoyt.

His family will be holding a private celebration of his life on February 5.
