DANBURY — The State Unit on Aging (SUA) is writing an updated strategic plan around services for aging people in Connecticut, with an emphasis on supports funded by the Older Americans Act.

To ensure the plan includes priorities important to residents in the state, the SUA is holding a series of community conversations across Connecticut. The closest location on the schedule is planned for Wednesday, February 21, 1-3 pm, at Elmwood Hall-Danbury Senior Center, 10 Elmwood Place in Danbury.

The public is invited to hear about the plan and provide input about supports and services that can improve and ensure the quality of life for elderly residents in this state.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Registration requested but not mandatory, and available by emailing agingstateplan@ct.gov or calling 860-424-5111. For those who are requesting reasonable accommodation, organizers ask to be contacted as soon as possible.

Additional sessions are planned for Wednesday, February 7, in Rocky Hill; Thursday, February 15, in Brooklyn; Friday, February 16, in Stratford; and Monday, February 26, in Torrington.

A virtual listening session is planned for Monday, March 11, at 1 pm. Visit portal.ct.gov/ADS-SUAstateplan to register or for the Zoom link for that session.

For those unable to attend a listening session who would like to offer input, call 866-218-6631 or send email to agingstateplan@ct.gov. Additionally, a survey is available at the website above for those who wish to go through that option. Input is vital to the process.

Readers are invited to participate in community conversations taking place across the state and virtually as the Connecticut Department of Aging and Disability Services updates its strategic plan around services for aging residents.
