Nighthawk Swimmers Fall To Defending Champion Weston

Newtown High School's boys' swimming and diving team dropped a 99-84 decision on the road to Weston on February 2.

Despite the setback, the Nighthawks had some strong performances, including first-place finishes.

"I thought the team swam well against the defending Class S state champs of Weston. The team is progressing in the right direction at this point in the season, which is great to see because of the tough upcoming meets in the next couple weeks," said Newtown Coach Zach Gauvin, whose squad will host defending Class M state champ Brookfield on Tuesday, February 9, beginning at 7 pm.

200 yard medley relay: 3. Tommy Horan, Caelan Ritter, Peter Fagerholm, Owen Gray.

200 freestyle: 1. Chris Lafky; 2. Dave Lawrence.

200 individual medley: 1. Peter Fagerholm.

50 free: 1.Owen Gray.

Diving: 1. Kyle Gaynor; 2. Ian Humber.

100 butterfly: 2. Lafky.

100 free: 1. Horan.

500 free: 3. Fagerholm.

200 free relay: 2. Xavier Williams, Ritter, Lafky, Gray.

100 backstroke: 1. Horan.

100 breaststroke: 4. Ritter.

400 free relay: 1. Fagerholm, Lawrence, Lafky, Horan.
