Shirley Faye Peck Roman

Shirley Faye Peck Roman, 81, died February 1, at Danbury Hospital in Danbury. She was born in Bridgeport, October 10, 1934. She lived in Trumbull and Fairfield before moving to Newtown in March 1964.pulmonaryfibrosis.org; Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Mrs Roman was a member of the Newtown Girl Scout Service Unit for more than 35 years. She served as a Service Unit Manager, registrar, leader, delegate, trainer of leaders, school troop organizer, QSP Service Unit Chairperson, orientation volunteer of new leaders, and also on the products service committee. She ran programs both for the Newtown Service Unit and for the council. Mrs Roman assisted on the committees for the 25th World Conference for the Girl Scouts Closing Ceremony, and the 75th Girl Scout Birthday Celebration. She received the Spotlight on Leader, Outstanding Volunteer, Appreciation and Hats Off Awards, and the Honor Award.

Mrs Roman was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She served for a while on the CTK Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Church Women United of Newtown and Bethel as program coordinator.

She worked as a teacher's aide at Middle Gate School for 20 years. She loved working with the children.

Mrs Roman loved to read, paint, travel, and spend time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Cassie.

Her loving daughter, Dawn Louise Roman-Weide and her husband, Richard Weide; and her loving granddaughter Cassandra Louise Roman-Weide, all of Newtown, as well as her beloved cat, survive Mrs Roman. Her husband, Robert Roman; and her parents, Kenneth C. and Gladys L. Woodland Peck predeceased her. Friends may call at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 85 Mt Pleasant Road, Newtown, Saturday, February 6, from 11 am until 1 pm. A funeral service will take place at 1 pm with the Rev Rob Morris officiating. Interment will follow immediately at the Newtown Village Cemetery, Elm Drive, Newtown.
