SOUTHINGTON - The Winterset Ski Club is clinging to third place in the Connecticut Ski Council's 2004-05 standings, trying to hold off Meriden and NAVA following the fifth race in the series on Monday night.

SOUTHINGTON – The Winterset Ski Club is clinging to third place in the Connecticut Ski Council’s 2004-05 standings, trying to hold off Meriden and NAVA following the fifth race in the series on Monday night.

Newington sits atop the standings with 2,571 points with Mount Laurel coming in second at 1,881 points and Winterset in third at 1,597. Meriden is hovering in fourth with 1,524 points while NAVA sits in fifth with 1,453 points.

On Monday, Susanne Brier (Group WB – 27.93, 27.30) and Angie Taylor (Group WE – 27.95, 28.43) finished first in their respective divisions.

Also –

James Kellerk was fourth in Group MC with times of 28.78 and 29.16; Michael Spiller was second in Group MD with times of 25.27 and 25.12 while Mark Krasnickas was third with times of 27.60 and 27.33; Jeffrey Bliven was sixth in Group MF with times of 34.48 and 38.57 while Mark Reilly was seventh with times of 35.93 and 35.21.

Charles Perry was third in Group MG with times of 25.65 and 25.51 while Peter Gorczynski was fifth with times of 29.05 and 29.03; Mike O’Toole was fifth in Group MH with times of 29.63 and 30.17; Neil Johnson was sixth in Group MM with times of 33.54 and 32.84; Andrew Lapati was second in Group MN with times of 32.10 and 32.48.

Meghan O’Toole was second in Group WA with times of 27.55 and 28.55 while Nicole Anastas was second in Group WB with times of 33.56 and 30.01. Jeanette Cebry was second in Group WD with times of 29.22 and 30.18 as Susan Brier was second in Group WF with times of 44.29 and 42.73. Carole Ando was fifth in Group WH with times of 39.56 and 39.59 as Ann Krane was second in Group WI with times of 35.60 and 35.53.

The previous Monday, Paul Chabot and Taylor captured first-place finishes in their divisions while Michael Spiller, Chaz Perry, Meghan O’Toole, Susanne Spiller, and Jeanette Cebry all took second place finishes.

Andrew Lapati and Ann Krane each placed third in their divisions.

Winterset Ski Club membership in the Connecticut Ski Council allows Winterset to participate in the Bulk Buy Lift Ticket Program, the Monday Night Race Series, the Connecticut Ski Council Days, the Connecticut Ski Council Bulletin Board,  and many other events and programs.

In other news, the Winterset Ski Club will hold its Pot Luck Dinner on Friday, March 11, at the home of a club member.
