The Town Shouldn't Be A Developer
The Town Shouldnât Be A Developer
To the Editor:
As I walked up to the new grand town hall the other day, I was struck by the sights of Fairfield Hills. Abandoned brick buildings are everywhere and the new building that was built is an imposing brick building that overwhelms the view. What a mess, and we paid how much and are still paying? I wonder if the laughter has stopped yet at the state agency that sold it to us. In the middle of all this is the palace the town renovated for itself at the taxpayers expense. Did we ever really have a say in any of this?
Weâre in deep now, so the best thing to do is abolish the Fairfield Hills Authority â before they give the rest of it away out of desperation â level the buildings clear the land and leave it as open space. Theyâve already stated that it may never turn a profit, so why continue on the development path. I think by now everyone would agree the town has proven that they shouldnât be developers.
