The Little Book Store is a cozy book store run by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library, located near the circulation desk on the second floor of the library, 25 Main Street.

This month, the Little Book Store is featuring books that celebrate the three major events of February: Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, and Black History Month.

Year-round, the Little Book Store offers new and high-quality gently used books at very affordable prices, including children’s books, mysteries, romance, classics, history, gardening, cookbooks, and more. The sale is open to all; no library card is required.

Marge Gingolaski, who manages the Little Book Store, noted, “We have Valentine’s themed books and romance novels by popular authors Jodi Picoult, Candace Bushnell, Debbie Macomber, and many others, as well as romantic literature, including a beautiful leather-bound volume of Jane Austin’s complete works. There are many books to choose from for your special Valentine, whoever he or she may be.”

According to Nancy Dvorin, who manages the history category, “For Presidents’ Day, we will be featuring biographies of US presidents, from Washington through Trump. Some of our titles dominated the bestseller lists when they were first published, others are less-familiar gems that the Friends received from our generous donors.”

Gingolaski added, “We have a nice selection of books related to Black History Month, and books by many celebrated black authors such as Maya Angelou, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Richard Wright, to name just a few.”

The Little Book Store is open during library hours, currently Monday and Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm; Tuesday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 4 pm and 5 to 7 pm; and Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm.

Check the library website, chboothlibrary.org, or call 203-426-4533 for updated hours.

The Friends and the library thank visitors in advance for adhering to the current public health guidelines: wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, and using hand sanitizer while shopping. Sanitizing stations are available throughout the building to keep the library and library grounds a safe place for the community.

For an added measure of safety and customer comfort, the Friends have arranged for two contactless payment options. Shoppers can either leave cash or a check in the secure cash boxes available or go to boothbooksale.org to pay by credit card or through Paypal.

In addition to the Holidays of February sale, the Little Book Store’s Pop-Up Children’s & Young Adult Book Sale has been extended through February. That special collection has been set up opposite the main circulation desk.
