Two separate incidents last weekend left just under 50 customers of Aquarion Water Company without water. Fortunately, both incidents were relatively brief.

Hook & Ladder firefighters were dispatched to 19 Church Hill Road shortly after 7 am Sunday, January 31, for a reported water main break.

According to Peter Fazekas, a spokesperson for the water company, the issue was with a tapping sleeve, not the main itself.

Water was shut down at 7:16 am and restored by 11:09 am, he said. Crews from Danbury-based David Tinker Excavating continued working to repair nearby road, sidewalk, and driveway spaces for at least another two hours.

That water service call affected 35 customers, Fazekas said.

Eleven hours after the first incident, another 12 customers lost water due to “a small break in the main” near 11 Borough Lane, Fazekas said. The shutdown for that call was at 6:15 pm, and water was restored by 7:45 pm.

The incidents, Fazekas said, “were totally unrelated to one another.
