Talking With Kids About Death And Grieving

DANBURY — When a loved one dies it may be difficult to know how to help children cope. Children grieve differently than adults and may not be able to put their feelings into words.

They may feel uncomfortable expressing themselves in ways that adults expect.

To help parents and caregivers learn more about kids’ needs and how to talk with them about their loss, The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families will host a special workshop, “Talking With Kids About Death and Grieving,” on February 17, from 2 to 3 pm (with a snow date of February 24).

The workshop will be led by Mary Condron, LCSW, who is both a lead facilitator at The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families and a medical social worker for Regional Hospice’s clinical programs. She has a diverse background in social work and special expertise in working with bereaved children.

The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families, 73 Stadley Rough Road, is a program of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut.

Healing Hearts has received national recognition for its unique programs and services for the community, including numerous support groups, workshops, and programs provided to the public free of cost throughout the year. For more information or to participate in the upcoming workshop, call Healing Hearts at 203-792-4422.
