Theodore T. Von Tanhausen III, 78, of Sandy Hook, formerly of New Fairfield, died February 8, at Danbury Healthcare, following a long illness. He was the husband of Tina (Anterio) Von Tanhausen. Mr Von Tanhausen was born March 23, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Theodore T., Jr, and Marie (Perrino) Von Tanhausen.
Raised and educated in New York, he served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a hospital corpsman aboard the USS Repose, and later attended both Fordham and Chattanooga Universities. Mr Von Tanhausen was an employee of the US Postal Service in Brooklynfor 25 years.
A resident of New Fairfield since 1973, he was a parishioner of St Edward the Confessor Church, and most recently has been a resident of Sandy Hook.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Banning and her husband, Glenn, of New Fairfield; one sister, Vivian Polito and her husband, Angelo, of Naples, Fla.; three nieces; and one nephew.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 12, at St Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield, at 11 am. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the charity of oneâs choice.
The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
