Firefighters and DOT personnel finish cleaning a crash scene on I-84 East last week after the driver of a 2005 Honda Accord LX lost control of the vehicle just prior to the Rochambeau Bridge construction site. CT State Police report Cyrus Panagiotou, 24, of Bristol, was operating the sedan in the travel lane of the interstate around 1 pm Wednesday, February 1, when he lost control of the vehicle. The Honda struck sand barrels east of the construction zone, damaging six of them before stopping. Panagiotou reported possible injuries, but refused transport to a hospital. The vehicle was towed and Panagiotou was issued infractions for failure to maintain proper lane and operating with unsafe tires. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue (SHVFR) and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded to the crash. —Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue photo
