The next monthly drive-thru food drive at FAITH Food Pantry is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, from 10 am until noon. The pantry is at 46 Church Hill Road, to the southeast of the St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church sanctuary.

The nondenominational food pantry — whose initials stand for Food Assistance, Immediate Temporary Help — conducts the collection events on the first Saturday of most months.

In March, the Newtown state political delegation will be joining food pantry volunteers to help with collecting. State Representatives Raghib Allie-Brennan, Mitch Bolinsky and Tony Scott, and State Senator Tony Hwang will all be part of the group that morning.

The delegation is asking the public to consider donating wet and dry cat and dog food for the March food drive.

Donations of nonperishable food (for humans), toiletry items, and cleaning supplies are also welcomed. To see a list of current Wish List items, visit NewtownFoodPantry.org.

Local volunteers will be joined by the state delegation next weekend for the monthly drive-thru food drive at the town's nondenominational food pantry, where donations of canned and dry pet foods are especially needed.
